We are excited that you are interested in becoming a drum major for the Sho-Me Marching Band! Drum majors are the leaders of the marching band and, without you, the band would not be able to perform their marching show.
Since most of you are not experienced conductors, I thought I would upload several videos to help you get started. Later this semester, I will have some after-school times that you can meet with the directors to work on these concepts.
Conducting Basics
Introduction to Leadership - this video gives a brief introduction to what a true leader should strive to be. A word of warning, make sure you turn down the volume on your computer for the first few seconds of this video and the next three videos because they start loud!
Conducting 101 - this video does a great job of demonstrating great posture.
Intermediate Conducting - this video shows how to perform "stop time" conducting during fast tempos - this is the style that we use during our shows.
